The silver prints have in these cubes have not been fully processed, existing instead in a developed but chemically unfixed state, vulnerable to deterioration. The cubes attempt to imitate the safe conditions of a darkroom however an inevitable process of deterioration becomes inherent. The portraits, built up from one hundred and fifty separate exposures over the course of a conversation, gradually break down and fade away.
